Plano para a Vida e Missão da Igreja Metodista (PVMI) e Diretrizes para a Educação na Igreja Metodista (DEIM): contexto e contribuições para a educação confessional universitária

Abstract

Esta pesquisa tem por objetivo investigar as ações voltadas à educação confessional e comunitária nas Instituições educacionais metodistas, em especial a UMESP e UNIMEP, tendo como base para o diálogo, dois importantes documentos da Igreja Metodista aprovados em 1982: o Plano para Vida e Missão da Igreja Metodista, PVMI e Diretrizes para a Educação na Igreja Metodista, DEIM. O PVMI (ou PVM) é um instrumento de orientações gerais para o povo chamado Metodista e apresenta diretrizes para a ação missionária da Igreja Metodista no Brasil. DEIM é um documento extraído do PVMI que traz orientações específicas sobre a ação educativa da Igreja. Assim, esta pesquisa busca investigar qual é a proposta de educação que estes documentos apresentam e se os mesmos foram determinantes ou não na caminhada da Igreja e de suas instituições confessionais no que se refere à educação; e, ainda, qual a relevância em rediscutir o papel da educação na Igreja Metodista naquele momento e se é possível, hoje, identificar sinais dessas Diretrizes nas universidades confessionais metodistas.The purpose of this research is to investigate the actions of confessional and community education in Methodist educational institutions, especially UMESP and UNIMEP, based on the dialogue, two important documents of the Methodist Church approved in 1982: the Plan for Life and Mission of Methodist Church, PVMI and Guidelines for Education in the Methodist Church, DEIM. The PVMI (or PVM) is an instrument of general guidance for the people called Methodist and presents guidelines for the missionary action of the Methodist Church in Brazil. DEIM is a document drawn from the PVMI that provides specific guidance on the educational action of the Church. Thus, this research seeks to investigate what is the education proposal that these documents present and whether they were determinant or not in the walk of the Church and its denominational institutions with regard to education; and how important it is to rediscuss the role of education in the Methodist Church at that time and whether it is now possible to identify signs of these Guidelines in Methodist confessional universities.
