Fé e identidade cristã em Justino Mártir: releituras do sábado e circuncisão na obra Diálogo com Trifão e outros escritos

Abstract

A presente pesquisa tem como objetivo analisar a construção da fé e da identidade cristã no cristianismo primitivo a partir da atuação de Justino Mártir (100-165 d.C.). Para isso, realiza-se uma análise de trechos selecionados de sua obra Diálogo com o Judeu Trifão, considerando o contexto de embates teológicos e disputas identitárias no século II d.C. O foco recai sobre as releituras de Justino de dois dos principais marcadores identitários do judaísmo: a circuncisão, e o sábado. Embora esses elementos já fossem centrais na identidade judaica desde o exílio babilônico, sua importância se acentuou após a destruição do Segundo Templo, tornando-se distintivos fundamentais do judaísmo rabínico. Assim, busca-se compreender como esses marcadores foram reforçados na história judaica e os desafios enfrentados por esse grupo na sua preservação. A partir dessa base histórica, investiga-se o propósito de Justino ao ressignificar tais referenciais, bem como os impactos de suas interpretações na relação entre o judaísmo rabínico e o judeu-cristianismo. A pesquisa evidencia que as releituras justinianas desses preceitos não apenas redefiniram a identidade cristã, mas também contribuíram para o avanço do processo de separação entre ambas as tradições religiosas.This research aims to analyze the construction of faith and Christian identity in early Christianity through the work of Justin Martyr (100-165 AD). To this end, selected passages from his work Dialogue with the Jew Trypho are examined, considering the context of theological debates and identity disputes in the second century AD. The study focuses on Justin's reinterpretations of the three main identity markers of Judaism: circumcision and the Sabbath. Although these elements had been central to Jewish identity since the Babylonian exile, their significance increased after the destruction of the Second Temple, becoming fundamental distinctions of Rabbinic Judaism. Thus, the study seeks to understand how these markers were reinforced throughout Jewish history and the challenges faced by the Jewish community in preserving them. Based on this historical framework, the research investigates Justin's purpose in reinterpreting these references and the impact of his interpretations on the relationship between Rabbinic Judaism and Judeo-Christianity. The study highlights that Justinian reinterpretations of these precepts not only redefined Christian identity but also contributed to the process of separation between the two religious traditions.
