Deus tá com a gente: reelaborações teologais favelizadas não sacrificiais

Abstract

Esta tese, intitulada “Deus tá com a gente": reelaborações teologais favelizadas não-sacrificiais, objetiva apresentar a forma pela qual pessoas cristãs favelizadas transitam entre a teologia sacrificial institucional (da denominação batista) e aquilo que chamamos de curvaturas ou reelaborações teológicas não sacrificiais. Interpelados (as) como sacrificiáveis na favela e no asfalto, pessoas cristãs favelizadas, em situação de sofrimento social causado pelo neoliberalismo, reelaboram suas convicções teológicas de modo que a vida adquira novo sentido, não legitimado pelo sacrificialismo religioso e secularizado. Por meio de pesquisa bibliográfica e de pesquisa de campo – que contou com entrevistas semiestruturadas, escala de diferencial semântico e questionário semiaberto como instrumentos de coleta aplicados com 6 pessoas, sendo 2 da cidade do Rio de Janeiro e 4 de Niterói –, demonstramos que a realidade da favela em contraste com a vida no asfalto demanda respostas que a pertença religiosa por si só não pode oferecer. Neste sentido, por meio dos dados coletados, é possível afirmar que os (as) entrevistados (as) testemunharam sentidos novos de vida e fé sem a necessária raiz sacrificial do discurso teológico institucional e socioeconômico, ainda que partam dela. Concluímos que, apesar da identificação de elementos sacrificiais em suas formulações, o que se sobrepõe é um discurso teologal de natureza não sacrificial, onde uma imagem de Deus, salvífica inclusive quanto aos males contemporâneos, como o racismo e o machismo, é suscitada.

This thesis, entitled “God is with us”: non-sacrificial favela theological re-elaborations, aims to present the way in which Christian favela people move between institutional sacrificial theology (of the Baptist denomination) and what we call non-sacrificial theological curvatures or re- elaborations. Questioned as sacrifices in the favela and on the asphalt, Christian slum dwellers, in social suffering situation caused by neoliberalism, rework their theological convictions so that life acquires a new meaning that is not legitimized by religious and secularized sacrificialism. Through bibliographical research and fieldwork - using semi-structured interviews, a semantic differential scale, and a semi-open questionnaire as data collection instruments applied to 6 people, 2 from the city of Rio de Janeiro and 4 from Niterói - we show that the reality of the favela, in contrast to life on the asphalt, demands answers that religious belonging alone cannot provide. In this sense, through the data collected, it is possible to affirm that the interviewees witnessed new meanings of life and faith without the necessary sacrificial root of institutional and socio-economic theological discourse, even though they start from it. We conclude that, despite the identification of sacrificial elements in their formulations, what is superimposed is a theological discourse of a non-sacrificial nature, in which an image of God is raised that is salvific even in relation to contemporary evils such as racism and machism.
