Violence is a widely discussed issue in society as it is a phenomenon present in all societies and has consequences for everyone involved. Taking specific account of the problem of violence against women as a public health issue, this study seeks to understand the phenomenon of violence against university women in the metropolitan region of São Paulo as well as to identify the health impacts resulting from the situation of violence. It is a qualitative research of documentary nature, following specifically the method of Thematic Analysis by Braun and Clarke (2006). For this purpose, four interviews from the NPAG-Saúde research group database were used. These interviews consist in the reports of four female university students who suffered abuses from their male partners. This data was analyzed and distributed following the Thematic Analysis to three big groups of meanings: Violence, Action and Consequence. From this analysis, the categories indicated: the violence experienced is of various orders, while actions taken are active and passive actions by the victim, the aggressor, the children (when present) and the family from both sides, in addition to negative consequences in various areas of the lives of women victims of violence, while they are absent for the aggressor. From the correlation between the categories of analysis and the theoretical framework proposed in the investigation, the results showed that: I) there is an objectification of women in order to maintain a power dynamic; II) irresponsibility of the aggressor and blaming the victim; III) health consequences that are not restricted to women beyond the need to think and rethink the possibilities of facing and caring in the situation of violence. Therefore, although the issue of violence against women has gained notoriety in recent decades, it is still necessary to reflect and act in order to guarantee basic rights, because even in the case of university women, who have access to information and critics about unsatisfactory intimate relationships also experience situations of violence in their intimate life and this has direct consequences on their physical and mental health.
