O papel social das narrativas distópicas: censura e resistência no ciclo transmídia O conto de aia

Abstract

As narrativas ficcionais interagem com o contexto histórico-social, colocando em pauta temas que por muitas vezes não estão no circuito da esfera pública oficial. Neste trabalho analisamos a obra de Margaret Atwood, O conto da aia, junto com seus desdobramentos, a série homônima e o livro Os testamentos, tendo como objetivo analisar como essa narrativa distópica dialoga com temas como a cultura patriarcal. Para tanto, fazemos um panorama da construção e manutenção das narrativas do patriarcado, entendendo como a restrição à educação e cultura possuem papel fundamental no machismo estruturalizado, bem como o momento histórico contribui para a retomada de obras ficcionais clássicas, inseridas em um contexto atual de discussão.Fictional narratives interact with the socio-historical context, bringing to the forefront themes that are often absent from the official public sphere. In this work, we analyze Margaret Atwood's "The Handmaid's Tale," along with its extensions—the eponymous series and the book "The Testaments"—to examine how this dystopian narrative engages with themes such as patriarchal culture. To this end, we provide an overview of the construction and maintenance of patriarchal narratives, understanding how restrictions on education and culture play a fundamental role in structural machismo and how the historical moment contributes to the resurgence of classic fictional works, situated within a contemporary context of discussion.
