O idoso e o direito à educação: análise de atividades escolares utilizadas com alunos da rede municipal de educação de São Paulo

Abstract

O crescimento da população idosa no país pode ser constatado através do aumento no número de idosos matriculados nos cursos de Educação de Jovens e Adultos (EJA) da cidade de São Paulo. O problema de pesquisa analisa de que modo a escola, que tem o aluno idoso, pode colaborar para um envelhecimento ativo, respeitar o conhecimento construído ao longo da vida, e contribuir na identificação e emancipação desse aluno como sujeito histórico. O objetivo geral é analisar os dados e os conceitos que expressam a forma como o envelhecimento populacional está impactando a sociedade, principalmente, no que tange à educação, e contextualizar o cenário, a partir de um aspecto mais amplo, perpassando as especificidades legais do país e da cidade de São Paulo. Os objetivos específicos são: (I) descrever as características recorrentes do idoso e o direito à educação; (II) descrever a EJA na rede municipal de educação de São Paulo em dois tempos: no período de implantação na Secretaria Municipal de Educação (SME), durante a gestão de Paulo Freire, entre 1989/1991, e na atualidade; (III) analisar as três atividades que foram elaboradas para os alunos da EJA Regular de São Paulo, entre 2018 e 2020. O referencial teórico do trabalho são os autores da área de Educação, Direitos Humanos e Envelhecimento (FREIRE, 1980; DIETRICH & HASHIZUME, 2017; DEBERT, 2012). As atividades de Direitos Humanos, Educação Ambiental e Alfabetização (aula remota), analisadas a partir dos fundamentos de educação de Paulo Freire (1980), valorizam, respeitam e incentivam o protagonismo do idoso, fatores decisivos para a construção de uma sociedade mais justa e equânime.

The growth of the elderly population in the country can be seen through the increase in the number of elderly people enrolled in the Youth and Adult Education (EJA) courses in the city of São Paulo. The research problem analyzes how does the school – in the face of this increasing number of elderly students - can contribute to active aging, respect the knowledge built throughout life, and help in the identification and emancipation of this student as a historical subject. The general objective is to analyze the data and concepts that express how population aging is impacting Society, especially with regard to education, and to contexto the scenario, from a broader perspective, permeating the legal specificities of the country and the city of São Paulo. The specific objectives are: (I) to describe the recurrent characteristics of the elderly population and their rights to Education; (II) to describe EJA in the Municipal Education Systems of São Paulo in two stages: one, in the period of implementation of the Municipal Education Secretariat (SME), during Paulo Freire's administration, between 1989/1991, and, another, nowadays; (III) to analyze three research activities that were developed for EJA students in the Municipal Education Systems from São Paulo, between 2018 and 2020. The theoretical framework adopted refers to authors from the Education and Human Rights and Aging (FREIRE,1980; DIETRICH & HASHIZUME, 2017; DEBERT, 2012) areas. The activities of Human Rights, Environmental Education and Literacy (remote classroom), analyzed from Paulo Freire (1980)’s point of view, values, respects and encourages the protagonism of the elderly student, which are decisive factors for the construction of a fairer and more equitable society.
