The research focuses on Interior Design initiatives of a social, inclusive, and sustainable nature, which understand Design as more than a mere luxury service. The main goal is to explore projects and initiatives that make Interior Design services accessible to low-income populations, aiming to raise awareness about the necessity of Design and its impact on daily life. The study seeks to align Interior Design with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda. Incorporating sustainability into projects not only reduces costs and contributes to environmental preservation but also enables the application of Interior Design in ways that protect both human health and the environment. The methodology adopted is Bibliographic analysis, in order to identify the main categories that comprise the field of Interior Design from a social and sustainable perspective, by examining projects developed within communities. As a theoretical framework, the research draws on the “social model of Design practice” proposed by Margolin; Margolin (2004), which is divided into two strands: market- based Design, focused on product creation, and social Design, towards meeting human needs. The study starts from the premise that Interior Design is not limited to aesthetic concerns; however, it is directly linked to physical and mental health, as well as overall well-being. This perspective is combined with the Sustainable Development Goals, integrating the targets of the 2030 Agenda with the notion of Interior Design as a fundamental service that can be applied in a lot of ways. As expected results, the research aims to shed light on a more social and inclusive approach to Interior Design, one that generates a positive impact on people’s lives and provides both social and sustainable benefits.
