Dissertação (Ciências da Religião) - Universidade Metodista de São Paulo, São Bernardo do Campo.https://repositorio.metodista.br/handle/123456789/375O presente trabalho explora o surgimento e a importância do chamado “quadro dispensacionalista”, uma representação visual da escatologia assembleiana, originalmente publicada depois de 1940 no livro “O Plano Divino através dos Séculos”, do missionário e pastor americano Nelson Lawrence Olson e, posteriormente, divulgada como cartaz autônomo em forma de litografia colorida. Desde já, foi amplamente usada na formação doutrinária de ingressos e membros da Assembleia de Deus. Sua existência e o seu amplo uso demonstram o papel significativa da cultura visual na catequese dessas comunidades, num item essencial da sua identidade, a sua escatologia. Até então, esse fenômeno não foi investigado por pesquisas específicas. O objetivo da pesquisa explora e afirma a existência de uma cultura visual assembleiana e contribui para o estudo do surgimento de uma cultura visual evangélica brasileira. Em um primeiro momento, analisa-se se na história do cristianismo houve questões similares a do dispensacionalismo; em um segundo momento, analisa-se o imaginário dispensacionalista na Assembleia de Deus e, por fim, uma análise pré-iconográfica, iconográfica e iconologia do quadro “O Plano Divino através dos Séculos”.The present work explores the emergence and importance of the so-called "dispensationalist framework," a visual representation of congregational eschatology, originally published after 1940 in the book "The Divine Plan Through the Ages" by the American missionary and pastor Nelson Lawrence Olson, advertised as a stand-alone poster and colored lithograph form. From now on, it has been widely used in doctrinal training of entrants and members of the Assembly of God. Its existence and wide use demonstrate the significant role of visual culture in the catechesis of these communities, an essential item of their identity, their eschatology. Until then, this phenomenon has not been investigated by specific research. The objective of the research explores and affirms the existence of a congregational visual culture and contributes to the study of the emergence of a Brazilian evangelical visual culture.
