This research, guided by the precepts and purposes of humanitarian inclusive journalism, aims to identify and investigate the spaces that journalists with cerebral palsy assume in the profession and how the practice of inclusive journalism, under the prism of humanitarian and peace journalism, can present itself as one of the possible ways to confer social visibility and promote debate on the issue of professional inclusion in the field of journalism. The theoretical framework is based on the studies on the struggle for recognition by Axel Honneth (2013), on the investigations on media representation from the perspective of the theory of the struggle for recognition by Rousiley Maia (2019), social representation by Serge Moscovici (1978) and Murilo Soares (2007), in media and disability studies by Ellcessor and Kirkpatrick (2017) and Ellis (2016), and in the field of journalism, Nelson Traquina (2005), peace journalism, in Johan Galtung (2001) and Dov Shinar (2008), and humanitarian journalism in Martin Scott, Mel Bunce, and Kate Wright (2019). To achieve the central objective, two methodological procedures were adopted, the systematic literature review in some core fields, with emphasis on inclusive, humanitarian and peace journalism studies, and the in-depth, semi-structured interview with ten people with cerebral palsy, of both genders, graduated in journalism, working or not in the journalism market. It was confirmed that journalists with cerebral palsy experience exclusion and discrimination to work in the profession, mainly due to the lack of knowledge about the condition and presumption of inability to work. It was observed that through the practice of humanitarian inclusive journalism it is possible to naturalize the practice of recognition, respect and responsibility as pillars of communication production. Therefore, the work explores the idea that through the inclusion of journalists with disabilities in journalistic companies it is possible to develop strategies and theories that support the understanding of the relationship between disability and communication, incorporating knowledge and real experiences to analyze the challenges and thus create meanings, inclusion and protagonism about disability.
